Today, the Panhandle Prairie Sharks delivered over $1800 to Jeff Parsons at Mission Amarillo. Mission Amarillo was our charity for the last quarter of 2016, and for our annual Battle of the Bobble Heads Racquetball Tournament.
Jeff showed us around & gave us a quick run down on all of the amazing outreach they do for our community. There are three areas of focus for Mission Amarillo. One, which is what we gave to, provides athletic shoes to kids in our public schools. This year they have given 727 pairs of tennis shoes. They also have two Affordable Stores – one for school supplies and one for Christmas gifts. Lastly, they have two mentoring programs. One for young men called Driven, and another for teen mothers called Be-Loved. Mission Amarillo has many avenues for volunteering & donating. They always accept new athletic shoes of any size and all school supplies. To volunteer your time and knowledge in mentoring to young men & teen mothers, contact Mission Amarillo.
Our donation for kids athletic shoes was made in memory of Lloyd Mills, Susan Mills Smith's father. Lloyd had a passion for the game of football and a love of children. What better way to honor his memory than to ensure our local children are able to run and play. Susan – you and your family continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
