Welcome to the
Panhandle Prairie Sharks
“Escape your world, relax in ours”
We call ourselves the Panhandle Prairie Sharks and we are Amarillo’s official chapter of the Parrot
Heads in Paradise (PHiP). Our purpose is to serve our community by supporting local charities while having as much phun as possible. We.bring together like-minded individuals who
embrace the Party with a Purpose belief and who are committed to making a real difference in our community. We may be located in the phlat and dusty Panhandle of Texas, but our souls are in paradise where living is easy, phun is mandatory, and you can always find a phriend and a place in the shade.
The purpose of PPS is to provide charitable and educational activities promoting the general welfare of Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle In fact, since you’re still reading, we bet we’re a “PHlock” like you! If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, join us at our next club function, or just sign up to be a member! We’d be happy to have you aboard!
If you would like more information on becoming a member, please visit our Membership page and join in the PHun!

This quarter, we are raising money to help Kimberly and Mark Watson. Some of you might remember we helped them back in May last year. Kimberly is 46 and is in heart failure and will need a heart transplant soon. In January, the doctor successfully did a heart ablation that the doctor thinks has fixed the electrical side.

Kimberly is a patient at Baylor in Dallas. Money raised will help with travel and hotel expenses to and from Dallas and some medical bills.
**If you are not able to make it to HH and you wish to give to this quarter’s fundraiser, you can Venmo or PayPal your donation. Please put in notes what the money goes towards. Thank you!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped start PPS’s year headed in a great direction!! We had one of the largest groups yet at this month’s happy hour!! It was so good to see so many faces there!! We missed those who were not able to make it. We raised $755.00 to go towards this quarter’s fundraiser. Kimberly and Mark were beyond grateful! Again, thank you to every one of you for your generous hearts and even more so for being such dang Phun people!! PPS continues to “Party With a Purpose,” and because of you guys, we make good things happen!!
We are looking forward to what the new year has to bring! Be watching for next month’s happy hour. We will be posting details soon.

I guarantee you there is still good in this world. Spent supper with some of the greatest people around. I like to take care of my own business and was brought up that way. Sometimes people like to bless others. It’s uncomfortable be on the receiving end of a blessing. I’m on the journey with 2 heart patients and I’m wound up tighter than a person ought to be. I’ve been grouchier than I should but I’m trying. Thank you to everyone that prays for us and a big thank you for everyone that puts up with me.

Good afternoon! I hope you are off to a great 2024!
2023 was a busy year for the Panhandle Prairie Sharks. We had ten happy hours & a few parties. Collectively, we donated over $5300 and volunteered 384 hours with various charities. In October, we collected 24,680 pairs of socks across the USA (3,000 pairs donated locally to Faith City Mission).
PPS is a group full of generous souls that know how to party with a purpose!
We have high hopes for 2024 and we need you to continue the phun! Our membership dues are collected in January at $25.00/person.
We have several easy ways to pay:
1. Venmo Panhandle Prairie Sharks at @prairiesharks – Please indicate the funds are for dues.
— Simply click the Paypal icon. (Please note that Paypal charges $1 making the total on Paypal $26.00/person.)
3. Come to happy hour this Friday, 1/19, at Hummers at 5:30. You can pay cash or check.
The charity for the first quarter of 2024 will be Kimberly Watson. We will collect donations at our first happy hour on Jan 19th — just a heads up if you are paying dues as well. Check out our Facebook event on Kimberly for more details.
Please be sure you are following all the phun on our PPS Members Facebook page and/or our PPS Website!
Stay warm, Parrotheads! Hope to see you on Friday!

Socks are the least donated item. Every October the Prairie Sharks collect new men’s, women’s and children’s socks for
#FaithCityMission. Help us by bringing socks to happy hour at Robinson’s Time Out BBQ.
If you cannot make the happy hour, please message us or Tracey Kilburn.
Help us make this the biggest Socktober ever!

Bring your lawn chair & BYOB for an evening of Phun, Food (Burgers and dogs), and great music. We are so excited about Geezers Gone Wild playing for us again this year—October 7th. There will be a $20.00 cover for members and non-members. $10.00 will go towards the food and band, and $10.00 will go to Homeless Heroes. (our 4th quarter fundraiser)
We hope you can help us celebrate our 11th birthday. It is crazy to think we are another year older. Over the past 11 years we have raised a little over $45,000.00 for different charities and families. This is awesome for no bigger than our club is. We would not have been able to do so without your help. Thank you to every one of you that has helped make PPS a huge success! Over the years we have met and become friends with so many wonderful people. Friends we consider family. Thank you again for 11 incredible trips around the sun!
See you all there! No doubt it will be a LARGE time!
Please RSVP for a head count for food.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Without you we would be nothing!! This quarter we raised $1500.00 for Sister-Bear Foundation. The 1500.00 raised for Sister-Bear was used for a silent auction tailgate set-up, 500.00 in gift cards for the gift card pull, and PPS will be the sponsors of the bar for the remaining 500.00! Julie and Sister-Bear are very appreciative!!

The Sister-Bear Shoot and dinner is tomorrow. If you have nothing better to do come out and join us for a wonderful fun-filled evening. Tickets are still available. There will be a silent and live auction as well.
